What's Development

Indian Creek School is a non-profit institution whose purpose it is to educate children. The endeavors of the school are funded largely by tuition, but there are many activities and resources that have become a part of the program of our school that would not be possible without external support. Support comes in many forms. Supplying the structure necessary to provide this support is the responsibility of the development office.

The Office of Development at Indian Creek is home to the activities that add resources for the educational program. Events that bring families, faculty and staff together join the traditional fundraising activities associated with development.

The Development Office calendar is filled with activities year round. The year opens with a Welcome Back Coffee that helps ICS parents reconnect after the summer and introduces new parents to the community. The New Family Bulletin Board highlights brief biographies and helps everyone put new faces and new names together. Throughout the fall, families join to break bread at class dinners. These Quick pot-luck meals give the children a chance to introduce their parents to their friends and through the years, parents get to develop relationships that promote healthy child-rearing practices and create lifelong friendships. At middle school, the format of the class dinners changes a bit to give the school an opportunity to share information on adolescent development and help parents maintain a united front as their children grow and change.

Through the year, school wide events flower: an auction, a fair, and the David A. Nagey Caring for Kids 5K. These events are both fundraisers and community builders . The responsibility for the events is shared between the PTO and the Development Office. Volunteers share the work. Participants and the community join together to enjoy the fun.

An important task of the development office is the Annual Giving Fund Drive. This is a major effort to raise money that can supply equipment and opportunities to insure that the program at Indian Creek is an excellent one. This fund supports everything from classroom equipment which is used directly with the students to faculty training and workshops by top notch professionals in the field. The faculty and administrators of Indian Creek feel gratified that their efforts are recognized and rewarded by a parent body that makes every effort to provide them with whatever they need to give the children of the school an exceptional education.
