Students Score Award Winning Results on the National Latin Exam When Gerard Connolly took the position as Head of the Upper School, he brought with him considerable experience in educational leadership positions and a deep love for classical learning. Last year with the beginning of his tenure, Indian Creek added Latin I to its language department. Middle School ICS Players Shakespeare Group This year eighteen students in The Middle School ICS Players, Shakespeare Group, under the direction of faculty members Brad Woodward and Aaron Kleffman, are rehearsing scenes from Romeo and Juliet. The Players have been invited to perform at the Library's Shakespeare Festival on March 23 in Washington DC. more...Indian Creek Continues the Tradition of Helping Indian Creek School begins its thirty-eighth year of holiday sharing on November 29. This long-held tradition started by the school's founder Anne Chambers focuses the charitable efforts of students in pre-kindergarten through twelfth grade on the needs of Crownsville and Annapolis charities. Over the years Indian Creek has provided countless gifts, new and used clothing, literally tons of food, a computer lab, laundry equipment, televisions and more to charities in Anne Arundel County. It is now a combined effort of teachers, parents, staff, and students. more...Indian Creek School Finds a Home in the IAAM The Indian Creek School girls' athletic program has been searching for a league to call their own ever since the boys' athletic program was accepted into the Maryland Interscholastic Athletic Association (MIAA). Finally, on Wednesday November 17 the search was over. Sue Thompson, the Executive Director of the Interscholastic Athletic Association of Maryland (IAAM), called with great news. Sue stated that "The IAAM would consider Indian Creek as a new 2011 provisional member." Over the past few years the IAAM has had a moratorium on all new membership, but with the closing of Towson Catholic the Association considered lifting the moratorium in search of a replacement. more...Indian Creek School Celebrates Division 1 Signings Indian Creek School celebrated the hard work of two incredible young women as they were rewarded with scholarships to division one universities. The student body came together to watch them sign their commitment letters as their families looked on. more...What could possibly turn a group of fairly sedate Indian Creek teachers, parents, and a few students into a mass of hooting and cheering groupies? Answer: the dearest things to their hearts - their students, their children, and their friends. And so it was on October 26, when the group of forty-two boarded a bus after school for the two and a half hour ride to Reading, Pennsylvania to see a performance by the national tour of A Chorus Line. The production of this Broadway favorite featured not one, but two Indian Creek graduates. This group knew these young artists when they sang their first notes and danced their first steps on the ICS stage. Now, here they were in the spotlight. The College Board Advanced Placement Program Upper School Head Gerard Connolly announced the latest recipients of the College Board AP Scholar Awards at a recent all-school meeting. The College Board Advanced Placement program recognizes several levels of achievement on the exams taken at the completion of the rigorous college-level courses. The Scholar Award is based on the achievement of a score of three or higher on three or more AP exams. Additional levels are based on higher achievement and a greater number of exams.
